Party band Helter Skelter are playing live at Brambles in Holmfirth on Friday at 9pm. The five-piece, who played Huddersfield Food and Drink Festival last year, are known for party tunes with a rock twist.

Have a day out with Thomas

Thomas the Tank Engine is visiting the Kirklees Light Railway on Saturday and Sunday with his friends Toby and Mavis, as well as the Fat Controller! The first train from Clayton West at 10am will be pulled to Shelley by Thomas and there will also be children's rides, donkey rides, face painting and bouncy castle. Take a gamble at Thongsbridge poker tournament

Thongsbridge Cricket Club is hosting a poker tournament this Saturday, 7pm-9pm. Open to all, the tournament will feature no limit Texas Hold 'Em with a maximum of 25 players. Food will be served during intervals, and seating is first come first served. For more information, call 07809836752.

Birkenhead four-piece Half Man Half Biscuit play Holmfirth Picturedrome on Saturday, doors 7.30pm. The rock band are known for their satirical and surreal songs, and were described by broadcaster Andy Kershaw as "England's greatest folk band". Tickets cost £20.

Enjoy the craic at the St Patrick's Day Parade

Huddersfield's Irish community unite on the Town centre streets for the annual St Patrick's Day parade.

Huddersfield's annual St Patrick's Day Parade will take place on Sunday at 1pm. The procession will begin and end at the town's Irish Centre, following a 1.5 mile route around the town centre, with a pause in St George's Square for entertainment. Expect colourful floats, music, dancing and high spirits as Huddersfield's Irish community marks a very special day.
