IF YOU ever wondered whether singing in a choir was for you, here’s your chance to find out.

Holme Valley Singers is a friendly choir which sings a varied range of music and wins awards too.

Now the choir wants to attract a few more singers to help swell its ranks.

They’d like more top sopranos and male singers, either bass, tenor or baritone.

On Tuesday, that’s January 31, the choir is holding an open rehearsal at its regular meeting place, Holmfirth High School.

The idea is to let people turn up, see what happens in rehearsal and join them for a sing.

Chairman Peter Dawson, who sings in the choir, says that being able to read music isn’t compulsory for anyone thinking about joining.

The choir is conducted by its musical director Kim Kaye and sings sacred, secular and popular music.

Tuesday is your chance to see whether this is the new spring hobby for you. And all choir members will tell you that singing is fun.

The open rehearsal starts at 7pm.
