BANDS are invited to take part in one of the area’s long-standing contests.

The date for this year’s Pogson-Bray Trust Contest is Sunday, April 6, and the venue is Whitcliffe Mount School at Cleckheaton.

The competition, the 22nd, has three sections and the closing date for entries is March 31.

Section A is aimed at bands from sections 1 and 2 and the championship section. These bands will play a contest march and will follow that with a test piece of their own choice.

Section 3 and 4 bands will compete in section B while the youth bands will compete under Section A.

Bands in both these sections will play three verses of any hymn out of the red hymn books, followed by a test piece of their own choice.

To enter the contest, bands must be members of the Huddersfield Brass Band Association though a day membership is available for non-member bands. This can be obtained for £5.00 along with the entry fee for the contest (Section C £20.00 Sections B & A £25.00)
