The food, the drink, Christmas crackers, getting your loved ones together and carving the turkey.

There's lots to love about Christmas dinner — and we asked you for your favourite parts.

Of course, food ruled the top ten in Huddersfield — but in a sentimental twist, the most popular part of Christmas dinner was spending time with family, our poll revealed.

Many of you said the most important thing was gathering with friends and family to share a meal on December 25.

Here's the 10 most popular things about Christmas dinner, according to you:

10: Christmas pudding

People that live out of town said their favourite part of Christmas lunch was coming back to Huddersfield for it! You might have a long journey, you might be a short drive away — but when you spy the Emley Moor Mast for the first time, or drive past Castle Hill, you know everything's going to be alright.

8: Christmas crackers

It's just not a Christmas dinner without some crispy, hot from the oven, gravy-covered roast potatoes. They've almost become an art form, whether you use goose fat, lard or olive oil, par boil your spuds or put them straight in, season them with garlic and rosemary or simply whack on some salt and pepper. However you do yours, we're sure they always go down well with the family!

6: Gravy

For Yorkshire folk, this is probably one of the most important things on the Christmas dining table — and you agreed, putting gravy in sixth place in our chart. Again, recipes vary (with some grandmas boasting 'secret' ingredients), but as long as it's there, lovingly ladled into a gravy boat, everything will be grand.

5: Stuffing

In fifth place was stuffing — it seems many of you in Huddersfield can't do Christmas lunch without some stuffing to compliment your turkey. Whether you stuff it inside your turkey or prefer to bake it in the oven, do vegetarian stuffing or use an indulgent sausage meat recipe, it's up there with the other important parts of a festive feast.

4: Turkey

Although goose, roast ham and other meats are creeping their way onto Christmas tables, a good old turkey is still the bird of choice for many — and it came fourth in our chart. 3: Sprouts

Sprouts made it into the top three! It seems Huddersfield folk are mad for the marmite of Christmas veg, with many of you saying sprouts were a seasonal highlight. Whether you boil them, oven roast them or pan fry them with bacon or pancetta, it seems sprouts are a Christmas lunch staple — we're just slightly concerned about the consequences...

2: Pigs in blankets

Unsuprisingly, these little beauties came second in our chart! I know with my family the pigs in blankets are the first things to be snatched up — my little sister even saves all hers until she's eaten everything else, so she can savour them! These little bacon-wrapped sausages are a firm favourite across Huddersfield.

1: Spending time with family

Taking the number one spot in this chart, not food, but family time! In a sentimental twist, the most popular element of Christmas dinner was having loved ones, family and friends gathered around the table for food, drink and fun times. It seems spending quality time with the special people in your life is what Christmas is all about in Huddersfield. How lovely!

Honorable mentions

Some elements of Christmas lunch that didn't make the top ten but were still popular with Huddersfield folk included: Yorkshire puddings (of course!), roasted parsnips, someone else doing the washing up afterwards — and a few indecisive people simply said they loved everything about Christmas dinner!

Cheers, everyone! (Is anyone else's stomach rumbling?)
