Enjoy live jazz at the Sportsman

If you fancy a bit of jazz with your pint, the Sportsman has two acts lined up for the bank holiday weekend. On Friday at 7pm, the Flea Bitten Dawgs will bring their 'ukulele jazz Americana' to the pub, as part of the Grand Northern Ukulele Festival. Then on Sunday at 4pm, the Jazz Dawgs return to the Sportsman for a bank holiday set.

Get messy at the Frontier

The Frontier in Batley is hosting a Monster Ibiza foam and UV glow paint party on Bank Holiday Sunday - and if you taxi over with three friends from Huddersfield before 1.30am, the Bradford Road club will pay your fare. Just take a dated and timed receipt to the Frontier and the amount will be deducted from your entry fee. Admission costs £5.

Head to the terrace party at Tokyo

Refurbished Tokyo bar, Queen Street, Huddersfield.

HouseDaze will take over the terrace at Toyko Huddersfield this Sunday from 2pm. Across the club will be sets from DJ Jason, DJ GodsJester and Lewis Haynes, with a mix of house, dance, RnB and hip-hop, guilty pleasures and techno across the different club rooms until the early hours. Admission £5 before midnight.

Play beer pong at Roxy Ballroom

Huddersfield now has its own Roxy Ballroom, which opens to the public for the first time this Saturday night. The new bar, in Zetland Street, offers tables for American drinking game beer pong, ping pong tables, pool tables and a range of beers and cocktails. There will also be also an outdoor terrace, with food including burgers and fresh-dough pizzas.

Further afield, a short train ride to Leeds will let you enjoy Leeds Feast at Belgrave Music Hall, Headrow House and North Brewing Co Taproom this weekend. There's street food, real ales, live music, family activities and more across the three venues. The Feast begins at 11am both days, and kids and dogs are welcome.
