2. Eric's

When the chef is known as a cook to the stars (including Arnold Schwarzanegger), it's hardly surprising to see his restaurant in the TripAdvisor top ten. Award-winning Lindley restaurant Eric's featured in last year's Michelin guide for its "appealing modern dishes packed with bold, distinct flavours". Our reviewer Andrew Hirst said: "Eric promised the finest ingredients locally-based wherever possible and he’s delivered on that pledge. It’s quality food at a reasonable price."

3. Apadana

This Persian restaurant offers Iranian cuisine combining rice with meat, lamb, chicken, fish and vegetables, flavoured with safford, dried limes, cinnamon, parsley and other herbs. The restaurant opened in 2013, and our reviewer Linda Whitwam said: "The kebabs were a revelation. The meat was quite simply the tenderest I’ve ever eaten. Chicken very lightly marinated, lamb fillet which melted in the mouth and divine minced lamb, delicately spiced with sumac."

4. Parky's Bistro

Ideal for a lunch outing, Parky's serves breakfast 10-am-11.30am, Tuesday to Sunday, as well as offering fresh sandwiches, salads and pasta, meat and fish dishes. They serve a three-course Sunday lunch and you can also indulge in a selection of homemade cakes, pastries and traybakes. Reviews praise the bistro for its excellent service, delicious food and good value.

The Three Acres was crowned the Dining Pub of the Year at the Yorkshire Life Food and Drink Awards in 2015. Using Yorkshire ingredients to serve up traditional Sunday lunches and classic British cuisine, the pub also offers private dining rooms for special occasions. Our reviewer said: "Good food in excellent surroundings. For all-out traditional dining experience, it takes some beating."

Down the road in Brighouse is a restaurant that combines Turkish and Greek delicacies with a modern, contemporary twist. Offering a la carte and meze menus, Meze was praised on TripAdvisor for its friendly staff and good service, as well as delicious flavours. Reviewer Linda Whitwam said: "Our overriding impression of the cuisine was that the meals really did deliver a taste of the eastern Mediterranean. Without exception, everything tasted like it has just been prepared, with distinguishable flavours of the individual components and herbs."

7. Med-One Lebanese Restaurant

More Mediterranean flavours in the top ten with Med-One Lebanese Restaurant in Huddersfield Town Centre . The eatery is run by Chef Khalil Khalaf and his wife Rojin, who ran restaurants in Norway, Sweden and Germany before moving to the UK. With a large, varied menu, Med-One is perfect for trying something new. Our reviewer Lauren Ballinger said: "Each dish was delicious, with well balanced, fresh flavours; the lahm ajeen (£4.95) was made with wonderfully fluffy pastry and the hints of lemon and mint in the vine leaves (£5.25) were light and refreshing. The mixed starter is an excellent way to taste lots of bits from the menu and was brilliant value at £11.95."

Opened by the same folk that run the popular Quirky Corner Tapas in Meltham, Quirky II & Tapas opened in 2014 when Kyle Hopkins and his partner Rachel took over a former school that had been Meltham Conservative Club. TripAdvisor reviews praise the restaurant's value for money, varied menu, including game, and diners can see their food being prepared in the open kitchen.

A taste of Italy in Huddersfield came in ninth place on TripAdvisor, tucked under the Huddersfield Hotel in Kirkgate.San Vito offers traditional Italian fare at reasonable prices, with pizza and pasta galore. Our reviewer Lina Whitwham said: "Run by Italians who previously had a restaurant in Leeds, Marco and Angelo have managed to create a homely, welcoming interior sporting Mediterranean colours out of a fairly unpromising space. The welcome was just as warm as the rich shades of ochre and red on the walls."
