There are loads of different toppings you can add rather than just eat them with a simple splash of lemon and a sprinkle of sugar.

Here's our foolproof way to make the perfect pancake.

So get your apron ready and a shopping list too!

Before you get the frying pan out there are a few must-haves that you need to make your pancake batter.

Essential ingredients

  • 200g/7oz plain flour

  • 350-400ml/12-14fl oz  milk, or ½ milk ½ water for a a thinner, lighter pancake

  • 2 large  eggs to be lightly whisked

  • 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil

  • A pinch salt

  • And vegetable oil for frying your delicious pancakes (serves four)

Now it's cooking time!

And here is what to do: Put the flour into a large bowl, make a well in the centre and pour in the milk and eggs.

Then give the mixture a whisk for a minute before incorporating the flour.

Continue to whisk until you have a smooth batter.

Add 1 tbsp vegetable oil and whisk thoroughly.

Then take a large frying pan and dip some kitchen roll in the oil.

Carefully wipe the inside of the pan and heat the pan over a medium setting for one minute.

Add just under a ladle full of batter to the pan and immediately start tilting the pan until you have an even layer.

Cook the pancake for approximately 30-40 seconds and when it is ready use a palette knife to lift the pancake carefully.

If the underside is golden-brown turn it over. Cook the other side for approx 30-40 seconds and transfer to a serving plate.
