More than 60 beers and ciders, live entertainment and daily barbecues will help real ale fans make the most of the August bank holiday weekend.

The Summer Beer Festival at Manchester's National Cycling Centre, hosted by Greater Manchester CAMRA, is just a train ride away for Huddersfield real ale fans.

When is it?

The Summer Beer Festival at Manchester's National Cycling Centre will run Thursday August 27 to Sunday August 30 in the Velopark Cafe.

The main Manchester Beer and Cider Festival, held in January, has moved from the Velodrome to Manchester Central, but the Summer Beer Festival will return in two weeks' time.

The Velopark Cafe offers views of the velodrome's hub and also has an outdoor area.

What's on?

Hosted in conjunction with the CAMRA branches of Greater Manchester, the festival will boast more than 60 northern beers and ciders, a quiz on Thursday, daily barbecues and live entertainment on the Saturday.

How to get there

To get to the National Cycling Centre at Stuart Street, Eastlands, Manchester, Huddersfield real ale fans should catch a train to the closest station to the centre, Manchester Piccadilly.

From Piccadilly Gardens (Stop D), you can catch the 216 bus to Sportcity, which will take around 10 minutes. Get off at the Visitors' Centre to Sportcity, and cross Alan Turing Way, to pass through the Asda Walmart car park, and cross the Stuart Street canal bridge. You will see the entrance to the National Cycling Centre on your right, after crossing the bridge.

The centre also has its own station on the Metrolink — Velopark for National Cycling Centre.

What about the January Beer and Cider Festival?

Manchester Beer and Cider Festival will be held in the main hall at Manchester Central, Wednesday January 20 to Saturday January 23, after two years at the velodrome.
