IT IS a show that can put a smile on your face just thinking about it.

The Producers was first a hit film for the hugely talented Mel Brooks back in the Sixties,

It proved a blockbuster on Broadway too when he was persuaded to adapt it with Thomas Meehan for the stage.

The result was a cracker of a musical which crowds loved and which picked up a record-breaking 12 Tony Awards.

Hardly surprising then that Huddersfield Amateur Operatic Society is delighted to be staging what is thought to be the first production of The Producers in the town and certainly at the Lawrence Batley Theatre.

The show runs at the LBT from November 5-9. All the company needs now is the dancers, singers and actors to stage this fun-packed show.

“It is a hilarious and rather naughty show with non stop jokes and huge dance numbers throughout,” said a society spokesman.

“We need dancers, singers and actors with enthusiasm and talent to join our happy band of performers to create what promises to be a stunningly impressive spectacle!”

For those who don’t know the story, when a has-been Broadway producer and his shy accountant realise that more money can be made from a guaranteed flop than a Broadway success they plot to make their fortune by producing the worst play ever written, find a director and lead actor with no talent and fund it with investments from hundreds of little old ladies! Their unique plan is flawless ...isn't it?

See for yourself in November or better still, get involved. If you want to join the cast of this super show, here’s your chance.
