It's looking good for a band of indie rockers.

They hit Huddersfield town centre this Friday for the first in a series of local gigs.

The Zillaz will be hosting a gig at the Rhubarb bar opposite the university, playing indie/rock covers as well as their own material.

The four-piece band – Ben Heneghan (vocals), Paul Ainley (guitar), younger brother Phil Ainley (bass) and John Longson( drums) – hope to emulate artists like the Arctic Monkeys, Kings of Leon, and Red Hot Chili Peppers.

John, 24, said: “We want to get people dancing, having a great time and get the Huddersfield music scene back on the map.”

The lads, all from Huddersfield, have also got other gigs lined up with nights at The Waterloo, at Waterloo, on Friday October 4 and The Yorkshire Victoria at Lockwood on Saturday October 26 for a Halloween fancy dress bash.

The band is hoping to soon be producing a CD and ask people to like their page on Facebook at www. facebook.com/TheZillaz or follow them on Twitter @TheZillaz
