THE Yeoman of the Guard will be on duty for the town’s theatregoers when the Huddersfield Gilbert and Sullivan Society’s latest musical production opens on May 16.

With Simon Ackroyd as the musical director and Graham Weston the artistic director, the show will be at the Lawrence Batley Theatre until Saturday, May 19, with a matinee on the closing day at 2.15pm and evening performances every night at 7.15pm.

The cast list features Richard Buxton, Paul Richmond, Bruce Merlin, Leon Waksberg, Ian Grange, Peter Skelton, Elaine Richmond, Becky Gregson-Flynn and Sophie Hughes.

The Yeoman of the Guard is set in the Tower of London during the 16th century and is considered to be one of the finest musical scores written by Sullivan.

It premiered in 1888 and is still popular today with Gilbert and Sullivan aficionados.
