TOP Indian musician Aruna Sairam is coming to Dewsbury Town Hall.
Aruna will perform tomorrow as part of Darbar Music Festival, in collaboration with arts organisations Kala Sangam and Manasimitra.
She is a renowned Carnatic vocalist – a classic musical style of south India.
She was born in Mumbai and was trained by her mother, Smt Rajalakshmi Sethuraman, also an accomplished vocalist and Aruna’s first ‘guru’.
After learning from her mother, Aruna was taught by a host of Indian singing legends in classical and folk styles.
At Dewsbury Town Hall, she will be accompanied by Indian musician Patri Satish Jumar on mridangam – a double sided drum – plus UK-based Carnatic and western violinist Jyotsna Shrikanth.
This concert presents a unique opportunity to hear high-quality South Asian musicians perform.
Tickets cost £10 for adults or £8 for concessions.
To book, contact the town hall box office on 01924 324501 or go to the venue on Old Wakefield Road in Dewsbury.
