THE most successful exhibition at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park is coming to an end.

The first major UK exhibition of work by Jauma Plensa at Yorkshire Sculpture Park closes on January 22.

The exhibition has been YSP’s most successful to date, bringing a record 200,000 people to the Park and receiving an overwhelmingly positive response.

It opened in April and visitors described it as ‘sheer brilliance’.

The renowned Spanish artist encourages a sensory exploration and his work includes a 50 metre curtain of poetry made of suspended steel letters, large illuminated sculptures in the landscape, and engraved gongs that visitors can strike to fill the gallery with sound.

For the rest of this month visitors have the once in a lifetime chance to own their own tree from the exhibition as YSP auctions the seven cherry trees that formed part of Plensa’s Heart of Trees.

The 10-day auction opened on e-Bay for Charity last week with a starting price of £200 per tree.

All proceeds will go towards the running of the Park which is a registered charity.

The winning bidders will receive a certificate from YSP just before Christmas.

For last chance visits to Jaume Plensa, YSP is open every day throughout the festive season except December 24 and 25, until January 22.
