THERE’S a treat in store in January for jazz fans in Holmfirth.
The Old Ribble Rousers, a four piece band, imported from west of the Pennines, will play at the Nook on January 28 at 9pm.
For the uninitiated, the Nook is perhaps the most hidden and most incongruous pub in the centre of Holmfirth. It is also thought to be one of the oldest.
Coincidentally, the pub also sits alongside a stream which is perfectly named for this event. It’s called the Ribble.
The Old Ribble rousers comprise Ian Royale on trumpet, Howard Murray, saxophone, Martin Bennett, piano and Richard Lord on drums.
They will be squeezing into one of the Nook’s small rooms to play. Should be quite a night.
