ACKER Bilk and Jacqui Dankworth are just two of the big names already in the bag for this year’s Marsden Jazz Festival.
Stan Tracey and Jason Yarde are also lined up for the three day Colne Valley Festival in October with many more names still to come.
The festival began in the early 1990s when it was started by a Marsden resident who wanted to involve the village community with a music festival.
It has gone from strength to strength and now is one of the area’s most popular events.
This year’s festival runs from October 8 to 12.
In little more than 48 hours the village expects to host over 7,500 visitors in more than 20 indoor and outdoor venues.
The brochure with the full line-up should be available on July 26 with bookings opening on August 7.
Today, the festival is on the national jazz calendar and has a reputation for headliners like Georgie Fame, Clare Teal, Humphrey Littleton, Jools Holland and Chris Barber.
In addition to ticketed events, Marsden Jazz Festival features many free concerts which give festival goers the chance to experience jazz from traditional to contemporary to experimental.
Anyone who can’t wait to find out more should go to the festival’s website which is www.marsdenjazzfestival.com for details.
