IT is one of those concerts that comes under the not to be missed heading.

John Etheridge is quite simply, a musician’s musician.

He has a huge reputation in the jazz world and is regarded by many as one of the best guitarists around.

John is both acknowledged and applauded for his versatility and for a taste of what all the fuss is about, the Lawrence Batley Theatre is the place to be tomorrow.

John will be playing a Huddersfield Jazz gig in the LBT’s Cellar space at 8pm.

With him will be the John Etheridge Trio North. That’s the regular members of his Northern trio, Ben Crosland on bass and Dave Tyas on drums.

With them will be another special talent, the sax player Dave O’Higgins who when he is not teaching saxophone is touring the world with his own quartet.

Tomorrow’s gig will see John demonstrate his skill in everything from classical to rock and just about every musical style in between.

He has a formidable reputation in the jazz world and that range of musical styles is just one of the reasons.

Consider that he recorded with the iconic Stephane Grappelli while playing during the same period with jazz-fusion legends Soft Machine and you’ll get the idea.

John is just as much at home playing acoustic and electric guitar which is why he has played alongside everyone from celebrated classical guitarist John Williams to jazz giant, Dizzy Gillespie.
