IT IS party time for jazz fans thanks to the Savannah Jazz Band.

They’ll be letting their hair down and letting the music rip at their Christmas gig on December 18 at their regular venue, the Royal British Legion Club in Golcar.

Their guests will be reed players Amy Roberts and Roger Myerscough. Amy is a young musician from West Cornwall who plays clarinet, saxes and flute. She is studying at Manchester Royal College of Music and has been making a name for herself at jazz festivals throughout the country.

During the past three years Amy has toured with youth bands to California and Northern Italy, and made her first visit to New Orleans during Mardi Gras last year.

Jazz fans should note there will be no monthly gig at Golcar in January, with the next Savannah date there fixed for February 4.

The band's driving and exciting New Orleans style attracts large audiences whenever they play. They have made 12 live recordings of their gigs with a further six CDs recorded at Lake Records.

The band has travelled widely, taking its music to Holland, Germany, Denmark. Finland, Majorca, Canada and all parts of the UK, delighting new audiences and collecting loyal supporters along the way.
