WHAT better way to kick off a new season of jazz in Huddersfield than with the music of Snake Davis?
He is, after all, one of the biggest names in the world in modern jazz saxophone playing.
Last autumn he wowed festival-goers in Marsden and now he’s back to get a new season of Huddersfield Jazz gigs off to a high quality sound.
With him at the Lawrence Batley Theatre next Saturday (September 26) will be Paul Birchall on keyboards with Neil Fairclough on bass and Bryan Hargreaves on drums.
The man himself will play saxophone and flute.
Snake Davis is well established as one of the UK's leading saxophonists. He is in
demand from the biggest names on the British pop music scene, as well as visiting artists from overseas. As resident saxophonist on Tonight With Jonathan Ross he played with the likes of James Brown, Smokey Robinson, Chaka Khan and many more.
He has been a TV regular with musicians such as the Eurythmics, M People and B*Witched and presented a Saxophone Masterclass programme for ITV.
And his talents don’t stop there. He played not just saxophone but flute – on record and tour – for Lisa Stansfield and M People.
Tickets from the LBT box office. The music starts at 8pm.
