IT PROMISES to be an extraordinary show as thought-provoking as it is funny.

Disabled comedian Laurence Clark brings his hit comedy show to the Lawrence Batley Theatre and takes on subjects most performers you suspect, would want to leave well alone.

Join Laurence on Saturday October 25 as he explores stereotypes and asks them “Am I really evil?”

Which might not sound such a bizarre question when put into the perspective of what Laurence says is a society that still stereo-types disabled people as pitiable, brave, charity cases, invisible, comical, fakes, scroungers and so on.

The show, 12% Evil, takes its title from the premise that many famous villains were portrayed as disabled in order to make them seem sinister and evil.

Remember Richard III, Long John Silver, Captain Hook, Dr Strangelove, various Bond baddies and the media-chased Heather Mills-McCartney!

By the end of the show, the audience will have decided if Laurence really is 12% evil and Bond villain material.

Laurence will examine various ideas including… do wheelchair users really get up and walk like Andy Pipkin from Little Britain when no-one’s looking?

Are parking badges and benefit books the only lifestyle perk of being disabled? Is it brave and courageous to play death-defying sports in a wheelchair, or just plain stupid?

Laurence splices together sharp comedy routines and observations stunts involving the public, filmed on the streets of London.

It all promises comedy as you’ve perhaps not thought about it before from a comedian with a hugely personal style.

The show is in the LBT’s Cellar Space and begins at 8pm. Box office is on 01484 430528.
