Free instrument making workshops have been announced.

All those who take part in the children’s sessions on either October 1 or 2 will then be able to show them off in Marsden Jazz Festival ’s ‘big noise’ parade.

Families can go along to the Parochial Hall at any time between 2 and 5pm, where they will be able to make instruments out of recycled materials.

They will then get to march in the village centre parade on October 8 at noon alongside three of the UK’s leading street bands – Orkestra del Sol, The Firm and Tongues of Fire and a ‘mad musical machine’.

A special child-friendly gig, Monster Music Improv, will also be taking place at Standedge Tunnel Visitors’ Centre at 2pm on October 9, where live cartoons and live jazz will be mixed together.
