MIRFIELD-BASED photographer Martin Lyons has three works on show in the People in Pictures exhibition at Huddersfield Art Station.

The photographs are on display in the gallery, which uses part of the railway station entrance hall in St George’s Square, Huddersfield.

Huddersfield Arts Station is a group of artists who stage a rolling programme of artworks in the station building. The art is seen by the hundreds of people who every day pass through what is one of the region’s biggest railway stations.

Martin chose to display three pictures he took at a derelict site in his home town of Mirfield using local model Beth Ingle.

“I chose these photographs for their moody feel,” he said. “I tried to convey through each picture,

feelings of contemplation, anxiety and peace. Beth was great and understood the types of shots I was aiming for.

“The location has now disappeared, so the pictures captured are just a moment in time, just as Beth’s thoughts were.”

Martin is one of eight photographic artists chosen by a panel to mount the exhibition which runs until tomorrow.

His work has featured in several exhibitions including Batley Art Gallery, Sheffield’s Cupola Gallery and the Revive Gallery in Heckmondwike.

It’s also been seen as part of an online BBC web gallery.
