IT IS an evening with music, laughter and the pride of supporting a vital charity at its heart.

The Royal Air Forces Association will hold its seventh annual concert on July 21.

Prepare for an early Last Night of the Proms-style evening with star guests, the Sellers International Youth Band, leading the music.

This award-winning 36 member band has players aged between eight and 18. They will perform a mixed programme but it is when they reach the finale with a selection of Proms’ favourites that you can expect the roof of Almondbury Methodist Church’s Wesley Centre to be at risk.

All the unmissable songs will be there from Jerusalem to Land of Hope and Glory. And yes, the flags are likely to be waving.

This concert is pretty much a fixture in the Association’s calendar and it is always pleased to welcome this band which has an array of skilled and talented young performers.

The band is a big favourite at this annual concert and will be sure of a warm welcome.

The association is hosting the concert in aid of its Wings Charity Appeal which supports residential and respite care homes and other essential welfare projects for past and present RAF personnel.

The band will be joined by musical comedy act, the Really Useless Group, who are, of course, anything but.

RUGS is a talented group of female performers who will have the audience helpless with laughter.

They will be joined by the KT Dancers and solo vocalist, Wendy Smith.

The concert is at Almondbury on Saturday, July 21 at 7.30pm.

Tickets are £6 and you can book by calling Richard Broadbent, chairman of the Huddersfield branch of the Royal Air Forces Association, on 01484 307691.
