THERE’S another chance for singers to join a performance of a major piece of church music.
A ‘Come and Sing Event’ is being held at St Patrick’s Church in Huddersfield on Sunday, March 21.
The event has been organised by the local committee of the Royal School of Church Music.
Singers will gather at the church at 2.15pm for an afternoon rehearsal of Stainer’s Crucifixion with a performance to follow at 5pm.
The soloists will be Philip Bubb (tenor) and David Wynne (bass) with Peter Williams playing the church’s new organ.
The event will be led by Keith Roberts.
Keith is Choral Director for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Leeds, developing choral singing mostly with young people in and around Huddersfield, including the formation of new boys and girlsŠchoirs.Š
He was a chorister at Westminster Cathedral and choral scholar at King’s College, Cambridge.Š Prior to his appointment in Leeds heŠwas a freelance countertenor, conductor, composer and arranger in London.
