A RENOWNED organist is set to make his first appearance at Elland’s Rex Cinema.

Steve Clarke will host his first concert at the venue this Sunday, February 21.

The Pontefract man has played the piano since he was 12 and he was presented with his first Piano Accordion for his birthday.

Less than six months later an Electronic Organ arrived on the scene and aged just 14, Steve found himself playing the organ for his local British Legion Club four nights a week.

Over the past few decades Steve Clarke has worked as Musical Director for artists including Ted Rogers, The Bachelors, Craig Douglas, Clinton Ford, Dennis Lotis and Jimmy Cricket.

He also did a two year UK tour with the successful We’ll Meet Again show.

Steve’s appearance will include a varied programme covering Swing, Jazz, Classics and Easy Listening.

“It’s always pleasant to welcome a new organist to the Rex,” said proprietor Charles Morris.

“Steve is the first of three newcomers this year, which will bring us to a total of 62 organists who have appeared up until this, our 21st season.”

Sunday’s show starts at 2.30pm and admission is £4.
