THE team behind Hepworth Band’s Diamond Jubilee Celebration concert must be holding their breath for better weather this weekend.
The band aims to stage its big event tomorrow (July 14) at the recreation ground in Hepworth.
The band plays under a covered stage but they are hoping the rain holds off so that the audience gets to take out the deck chairs and picnic hampers for a summer evening of music.
The music has been chosen with celebration in mind. It includes Walton’s Crown Imperial, Handel’s Music for the Royal Fireworks, Nimrod from Elgar’s Enigma Variations, the Elegy from John Ireland’s A Downland Suite and Elgar’s Pomp and Circumstance March No1.
The concert starts at 7pm. Tickets, £5, are available in advance from William Sykes & Sons Estate Agents, Holmfirth, the White Horse Inn, Jackson Bridge and Ruth Brook 01484 686557, or £7 on the gate.
There is parking at Dobroyd Mill on Butt Lane, Hepworth.
