ORGANIST Ian Gough (pictured) makes a return visit to the Rex, Elland, for a concert next weekend.

Ian, who is from Staffordshire, began playing the electronic organ at the age of seven having been inspired to learn after hearing the Mighty Wurlitzer at the Tower Ballroom in Blackpool.

But it was not until he was 30 that Ian stumbled across the website of well-known organist Joyce Alldred and was inspired to begin transferring his skills to the theatre organ.

Ian made his debut on the theatre organ four years ago and within a year had won the American Theatre Organ Society’s Amateur Theatre Organist Competition.

He combines his music with a busy career as a Human Resources manager for a UK plc. Hear him play at the Rex Cinema on Sunday July 18 at 2.30pm.
