EVER heard a choir sing and wondered “could that be me?”

Well now’s your chance to find out if you would enjoy more than just the occasional warble in the shower.

Honley Male Voice Choir has recruited a number of new singers in recent weeks including a 79 year-old who is enjoying his first taste of male voice choir work.

Now the choir is keen to attract still more new members and are holding an extra rehearsal where anyone who might be interested in joining them is invited to pop in.

Instead of their usual rehearsal room in Honley, the choir is switching to the more relaxed surroundings of Meltham’s Durker Roods hotel.

They will sing at the hotel between 10am and 2pm on Saturday May 8 with conductor Keith Roberts and their accompanist Sue Ogden.

“If you like singing why not come along and spend a little time with us and see if you like what you hear,” said chairman Norman Mellor.

“After the rehearsal, we will be having a get-together and we’d be happy to meet anyone who might be interested in singing with us.”

Norman says that being able to read music is not essential.

But if you enjoy music, like good company and having fun then male voice choir singing could be for you.
