AS choirs and orchestras get back to serious rehearsal ready for the winter season, there’s a new face at Marsh Ladies’ Choir.
The singers have appointed Ian Abbott of Mirfield as their new musical director and say they look forward to working with him.
Ian is married with two daughters. He has a Master’s degree and works in the quality assurance department of a pharmaceutical manufacturer.
His spare time is devoted to his family and to his music. He has been organist and choir master at the Central Methodist Church in Brighouse for several years and has many years’ experience in musical theatre.
Ian is now hoping to put those skills to good use with Marsh Ladies’ Choir and has already started rehearsals with the singers.
They are busy preparing for a charity concert on Saturday, October 17 at the North Light Gallery in Armitage Bridge.
This concert has become one of the highlights of the choir’s year and next month’s event will be in aid of Holly Bank School, which the singers have chosen as their charity of the year.
