IT’S been quite a summer for Marsh Ladies Choir.

They joined a “flash mob” of singers from other choirs who serenaded passers-by in the piazza in Huddersfield as part of a fund-raiser for the Hollyband Trust.

Then the ladies sang in Marsh as the Olympic torch passed through their area and finished up singing in Greenhead Park at the Parkfest.

It’s all part of the fun of singing with a ladies’ choir and there is much more to come as the singers prepare for the choir’s annual charity concert next weekend (Saturday, September 15).

And after that, the choir will be heading north as guests of Hexham Male Voice Choir.

This October date in the diary will see the choir join the Hexham singers in concert at West End Methodist Church on October 13.

First though, is the Marsh Ladies Choir concert at Lindley methodist Church on September 15.

The choir will be conducted by its musical director, Ian Abbott, and accompanied by Kim Kaye.

September Serenade will feature the choir singing old favourites along with a few new ones including a French song, Dirait-on, from Les Chansons des Roses with words by Rainer Maria Rilke.

The choir’s guests will be Hade Edge Jazz Band conducted by Simon Wood.

The concert will be compered by Raymond Gledhill and is in support of HomeStart, Kirklees.

Tickets are £7 each including refreshments from the concert secretary on 01484 658548, by email: lblagbrough@googlemail.com or on the door.
