A NIGHT of musicals and folk songs has helped to raise £800 for the Hollybank Trust.

Marsh Ladies’ Choir held a charity concert at the North Light Gallery in aid of the Mirfield charity which works with children and adults with complex physical disabilities.

The Music for an Autumn Evening show was attended by Mayor of Kirklees, Clr Julie Stewart-Turner.

The ladies were in fine voice under the baton of their new conductor, Ian Abbott, accompanied by Kim Kaye.

They sang a varied programme including songs from Mamma Mia and Les Miserables and well-known favourites like Bridge Over Troubled Water to folk songs like Will Ye Go Lassie Go.

Their guests for the evening were the Suzuki Players – performers whose ages ranged from four to 14 under the leadership of Caroline Goddard. The Players were accompanied by Amy Preece on the piano and Raymond Ellis was guest compere.

Anne Armstrong from the ladies’ choir, said: “We hope we have made a good amount for the charity and wish to thank our sponsors, friends and audience for making this possible.”
