NEIL Jowett is set to bow out as musical director with Lindley Band after 29 years.

And one of his final appearances with the baton will be at the YMCA, in Salendine Nook, on Sunday, December 11 (7pm) when he will conduct the band in the traditional Christmas Concert.

The popular concert, which is now in its 14th year, will also feature guest soprano Julia Garbutt, who has performed with the band on many occasions and is making a special appearance for one of the conductor’s farewell performances.

And to mark the occasion, a special presentation is being planned for Jowett, to commemorate his tremendous contribution to the band since taking over in the early 1980s.

Jowett will also be in charge when the Band stage their annual Christmas concert in Huddersfield Town Hall, on Friday, December 16.

Tickets for the concert are available at the Laund Hill club, priced £6.
