Ex-Evile guitarist Ol Drake has been confirmed for this year’s Bloodstock Festival.

The six-string shredder will be performing on Sunday August 9 on the Sophie stage in support of his upcoming solo album, ‘Old Rake’.

The promising announcement comes two years after he suddenly quit the Huddersfield band due to weariness with the touring lifestyle and three years since he played at Bloodstock with Evile.

Commenting on the booking, Ol said: “I’m very excited to be returning to Bloodstock in a musical capacity.

“The weekend is fully booked off work and we’re rehearsing right now. It’ll be a very special show, so don’t miss it. I’ll no doubt be having my fair share of drinks and Jagermeister afterwards and no doubt be returning to work feeling buzzed yet terrible.”

Old Rake features instrumental guitar in dozens of styles and is due to be released on June 22 in Europe. Ol will play a warm up gig at The Parish on August 1.

Ol said: “It’s a place where I spent many a pound coin on their whiskey and fell down a lot. My friend, Mikey Baird is putting the show on and the Parish has a great new venue so I can’t wait to widdle my widdles in my hometown. On drums will be my friend Rob Harris from the grind band Foetal Juice.”

Other bands already confirmed for Bloodstock include Opeth, Overkill, Black Label Society, Cannibal Corpse, Napalm Death and more.
