Huddersfield bands are in the running for top rock awards.

Mr Shiraz, Eureka Machines, The Scaramanga Six, Tropical Contact, The Idol Dead and The Parish venue are all up for Pure Rawk Awards gongs, which celebrates some of the best UK underground rock, punk and metal music.

The winners of the awards will be announced tomorrow night at the Boston Music Room in London.

Eureka Machines, The Scaramanga Six and Tropical Contact are all up for band of the year.

Friends Scaramanga Six and Eureka Machines are competing against each other for album of the year and release artwork of the year.

Polly Phluid of The Idol Dead could be cast best front person, while Julia Arnez of The Scaramanga Six is in line for Axe Hero of the Year.

Nish Idol of The Idol Dead and Wayne Insane of Eureka Machines are both up for Drummer of the Year.

And Mikey Baird of Mr Shiraz has also done well.

He is nominated for best promoter of new and unsigned bands, as his the venue where he puts on events, The Parish.

Mr Shiraz’s 21 Grams is up for EP/Single of the Year.
