Three bands will take to the stage at the Holmfirth Picturedrome on Saturday – and it’s all in a good cause.

Newly-formed Local Hero Promotions has organised the gig to raise money to help Paul Turnbull, of West Slaithwaite, who was severely injured in a car crash on the moors above Meltham in March, 2015.

Paul, 27, who played football for Walkers Hounds FC, suffered head trauma, a broken neck and a punctured lung in the accident, which left him in a coma and unable to move or speak when he regained consciousness. Only now is he regaining some of his motor skills.

Performing at the Picturedrome will be Able’s Army, Palmes, and Courtyards. Doors open at 6.30pm with the first band performing at 7pm. Tickets cost £8 online via the Picturedrome and £10 on the door.

Palmes will be playing at a charity gig at the Picturedrome in Holmfirth

Lisa Naylor, who runs Local Hero Promotions with colleague Lucy Craven, said: “We are a pair of local music enthusiasts whose goals are to support Huddersfield’s independent music venues, showcase it’s emerging artists, all whilst raising money for charity. Our chosen charity is one that sits very close to our hearts. It is likely that Paul will need care for the rest of his life.”
