A quiet Calderdale farm will be transformed into a mini Glastonbury next month when the third annual Farmfest rolls into town.

Dozens of up-and-coming local bands will take the stage at Grange Farm, in Wheatley, Halifax, on July 12, to help raise money for the NSPCC.

It hopes to beat last year’s fundraising success, in which £2,600 was donated to help improves the lives of young people in West Yorkshire.

All ages have been invited to make the most of the hot weather and come along to the event, which starts at 12.30pm.

Amongst those signed up to perform include Halifax-based Held Below, Mirfield’s Fading Sunlight and Huddersfield, Halifax and Brighouse band, Beyond The Line, who have all agreed to play for free on the day.

Food and craft stalls will also make an appearance, alongside face painting, a barbecue and a licensed bar.

Speaking about the event, one of the organisers, Matt Smith from Chocolate Mould Designs UK Ltd, said: “We’re all thrilled that Farmfest is now in its third year and that it’s has attracted a whole host of amazing young talent from the area.

“I’d like to encourage families and friends to come along to the day, it’s a lot of fun and it’s great to show support to our local young people, so we’re hoping as many people come along and enjoy the fun and help us raise money for the NSPCC.”

“All the musicians and organisers have donated their time free of charge, which really shows the great community spirit we have in Halifax and West Yorkshire.

“We would love the gig to be a sell out and hope to see people from all over on the day.

“Special thanks to the Long Can Hall pub and restaurant who have kindly offered to provide the outside bar for the afternoon and the Moorlands Inn have also very kindly donated the BBQ and food.”

Helen Verity, NSPCC community fundraiser, said: “It will be a fantastic day and an event not be missed for those who love live music while helping to support the NSPCC.”

Advance adult tickets cost £6 or £8 on the day, with children under 12 free if accompanied by an adult.

Tickets for the event can be purchased from Chocolate Mould Designs/Stainless Steel Supplies, Grange Farm, Doctor Hill, Wheatley or online at www.eventbrite.co.uk Further details on www.facebook.com/Farmfesthalifax
