They say that travel broadens the mind but it also does wonders when creating fresh music sounds.

It is something that Huddersfield adventurer and singer-songwriter, Tommy Abbott, knows all too well, whose three and a half year epic journey across the world has made a lasting stamp on his act.

Known by his stage name, Tommy Sjrobe, he creates original acoustic tracks that mesh a long list of influences from reggae and blues rock to world music he encountered whilst in Australia, Indonesia, Thailand and beyond.

He cites his love of psychedelic 60s and folk music as his other big influences, such as 13th Floor Elevators, Pink Floyd, Bob Dylan and Woody Guthrie.

Polishing his voice in New Zealand, where he became a regular face in the Wellington music scene and local radio, he has quickly established a similar presence back in his hometown, where he can be found at Herberts and Bar 1:22’s open mic nights, as well as on the stages of the Parish and Vox.
