We may live in Huddersfield but when listening to Yugen it is easy feel as if one has been transported to the hallowed music dens and basements of Seattle or Palm Beach.

That surely cannot be a bad claim to fame for the young Huddersfield five piece, who have been bringing a taste of Pacific progressive rock to the town for over one year.

Created in the corridors of Greenhead College and nurtured in many a garage and bedroom before sharing their sounds at house parties, Charlie Maxwell, Will Rowe, Wesley Burton, Mikey Gee and Sam Lucas are now regular faces at venues at the hearts of the town’s after dark scene.

Citing some of their influences as Queens of the Stone Age and Led Zeppelin, they write original lyrics uttered in hypnotic, gnarly voices that sound like they have matured in a cask of single malt for longer than their ages combined.

Currently in the process of writing and recording new songs, they to build upon their established presences in Kirklees by spreading the reach of their sound in venues in nearby cities of Leeds and Manchester in the near future.
