CHRIS POWELL, one of the country’s leading entertainment organists, will play in Penistone next week (November 14).
Chris, who is based in Derbyshire, was two years old when his family emigrated to New Zealand.
His first musical memories were in NZ but it was when the family returned to the UK that he took up both piano and the organ.
By the time he was 16, he was already in demand to play for concerts and dances.
But his ultimate ambition was to join the team of organists at the world famous Tower, Ballroom, Blackpool which he did, playing there for two seasons.
Chris’s musical talents are in demand. He has toured widely, played for TV and radio and recorded 12 best-selling albums.
