ORGANIST Michael Holmes is travelling over the Pennines for a concert at Elland’s Rex.

A professional musician, Michael is a pupil of Joyce Alldred and has been interested in the theatre organ for a number of years.

He is from Stalybridge in Greater Manchester, has played at the former Davenport cinema, Stockport, and more recently has played at the Plaza Theatre in Stockport.

In 2005 Michael was invited over to America to play at the Sounds of the Silents film festival at the Lafayette Theatre in New York and while there also played as part of the Fatty in Fort Lee Fatty Arbuckle season for the Fort Lee Film Commission.

He is musical director for two professional theatre companies, playing for pantomime, music hall and a touring variety show, The Flanagan and Allen Story, at theatres all over the country.

Michael has also played more locally to Elland, having done several concerts at Ossett Town Hall on the Compton Christie organ.
