STEVE Clarke makes his first appearance at the Rex cinema in Elland to play the organ concert on Sunday 21.

“Steve is the first of three newcomers this year, which will bring us to a total of 62 organists who have appeared up until this, our 21st season.” said proprietor Charles Morris.

Steve is from Pontefract and has worked as musical director for several performers including Ted Rogers, The Bachelors, Craig Douglas, Clinton Ford, Dennis Lotis and Jimmy Cricket.Š He also did a two year UK tour with the successful We’ll Meet Again show.

As a boy Steve played the family’s piano and for his 12th birthday was given a piano accordion.

Less than six months later, the family acquired an electronic organ and at 14, Steve found himself playing the organ at the local British Legion Club four nights a week.

Even now he still finds time to play for cabaret and dances. Steve plays a wide range of music from swing, jazz, classics, and easy listening. Admission is £4.
