HONLEY Ladies’ Choir is just wild about singing.

Which is perhaps why every summer they let down their hair and celebrate their passion for music. And that means everything from Abba to disco.

We’ve seen them tackling everything from Forties nostalgia to school’s out disco. But this summer, prepare to join the Ladies as they head for the American Wild West.

“Think Calamity Jane meets Seven Brides For Seven Brothers in a hoe down, musically speaking,” says the choir’s musical director Emily Reaves-Bradley.

And with the success stories behind the choir’s June concerts in previous years, she and her creative team have no doubt that the Honley Ladies will soon be bustin’ out all over!

The choir is busy rehearsing the tunes of the Doris Day era including brushing up on all those yeehaws.

The Ladies are also getting in step learning the basics of American square dancing ready for their two night date in June (19 and 20) at Newsome Scout Hall with caller Rambling Roy Atkinson and the Soggy Bottom Band.

Stetsons, rawhides and gingham are the order of the day with a campfire supper included in the ticket price. Those tickets are going fast. Details are on the choir’s website, www.honleyladies.co.uk or on 01484 307189.
