TEENAGERS with an hour to spare next Friday might fancy trying a taster session for a new vocal group.
It’s a chance for 13 to 18 year olds to join a new vocal group and take part in a concert at this year’s Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival.
The hour-long taster session on May 15 is at Mirfield Free Grammar from 5.30pm.
It has been organised by the festival and Kirklees Music School with funding from Youth Music, the UK’s largest children’s music charity.
The idea is to create and sing new vocal music giving youngsters a chance to explore different ways of using their voices in a fun and relaxed group.
The session will be led by Laura Sillitoe and Sarah Turnbull.
And for those who enjoy next week’s session there will be a chance to work throughout the year composing, improvising and performing their own music.
At the festival in November, they will sing a new piece by experimental composer Alvin Curran.
The group meets every Friday during term time.
