IT IS a family friendly concert with the sort of music that everyone can enjoy.
And if that were not a big enough incentive to whip the family off to Slaithwaite for a Saturday afternoon outing, how about a free meal thrown in - for the price of your concert ticket of course. Oh and children go free!
All of that, and bags of musical talent, is what Slaithwaite Philharmonic Orchestra is offering tomorrow (March 19) on home ground in St James’ Church in Slaithwaite.
The music begins at 4pm and will include lots of classical favourites.
Listen for Rossini’s William Tell Overture along with the Haydn/Mozart Toy Symphony. Children might well be expected to lend a hand with the latter.
As an extra treat the SPO have invited along local soprano Rhianydd Beaumont who will sing Mozart’s Exsultate Jubilate.
She will be at the concert thanks to Benjamin Ellin, the orchestra’s conductor.
Ben, who is based in London, was working as music director at the Thursford Christmas Spectacular in Norfolk last year where Rhianydd, who lives in Slaithwaite, was a member of the cast.
The two soon discovered their Colne Valley connection and a plan for tomorrow’s performance soon followed.
Tickets are £7.50 for adults (concessions £5) on the door or from the orchestra’s ticket secretary on 01484 850488.
Children attend free of charge with a paying adult.
