IF YOU’VE made a New Year’s Resolution to do more exercise have you thought of exercising your vocal chords by joining a choir?

That’s the question being posed by Honley Ladies Choir who are offering a free “taster session” at an open rehearsal next week.

Join them on Thursday (January 20) at St Paul’s Church, Armitage Bridge at 7.30pm to see just how much fun you can have singing.

“We will be very happy for anyone who has ever thought about singing with a ladies choir to join us for the evening, either to sing or simply to see what goes on,” said Emily Reaves, the choir’s Musical Director.

“You don’t have to have had any previous singing experience or be able to read music – but a sense of humour is a definite advantage.

“Just come along and see if we are for you.”

“We have a very full programme planned. It includes spring and autumn concerts, a visit to the Eisteddfod winning Maelgwn Male Voice choir in Llandudno, open air busking and a royal wedding event still to be unveiled!”

But the choir’s twin highlights this year will be a classical concert at Holmfirth Parish Church in late May and a community Honley Sings Christmas Concert.

For the Christmas concert, the choir will join Honley Male Voice Choir and groups from Honley Infant, Junior and High Schools.

“Singing is what brings us together,” said Emily.

“But we have lots of fun at the same time. Come and see for yourself.”
