ROBERT Sharpe, York Minster’s Director of Music will play in Hopton next week.

Well-known as a recitalist and for his work with the choir at York Minster, Robert will play at St John’s Church in Upper Hopton.

The concert is on Friday May 20 at 7.30pm and will feature pieces in a range of musical style.

The church has a fine 1894 Forster and Andrews pipe organ and the church community is delighted that Robert Sharpe has offered to play a recital on it.

Robert is the latest of a line of high profile musicians who have travelled to Hopton to play.

They include Jonathan Bielby, Simon Lindley and Kirklees Borough organist Dr Gordon Stewart.

Proceeds from the recital will go towards the upkeep of the 117 year old instrument.
