IT’S AN astonishing 50 years since many of the massive chart-toppers from the Motown label were signed, sealed and delivered.

But half a century later the distinctive soul sound is still as popular as it ever was.

Which is why the popular American touring show, The Magic of Motown, is now celebrating its own 10th anniversary.

The Motown show, which features 36 number one hits and iconic songs, is once again in the UK. On Saturday, March 2, it will be at the Theatre Royal in Wakefield.

Back in 1963 Martha Reeves and the Vandellas hit the charts with Heat Wave and The Miracles sang You Really Got a Hold on Me. They paved the way for a cascade of classic Motown sound records.

The show, which has a young cast of talented singers and dancers, headed by male lead Andre Lejaune, has 16 costume changes and aims to capture the authentic feel of Motown.
