A HUDDERSFIELD jazz band is back in action on home turf after a gig in the sun.

The New Orleans-style Savannah Jazz Band usually plays at the Royal British Legion in Golcar on the first Thursday of every month.

But it missed April’s as it was in Malta playing for Saga holidaymakers.

Band member John Meehan said: “We may have missed our regular slot in April, but we will be back at the Royal British Legion in Golcar this Thursday at 8.30pm as usual and will then play every Thursday right through to December.

“It’s strange because we came back from wall-to-wall sunshine in Malta to wall-to-wall sunshine back home.’’

The band has also played in Spain and on Rhine cruises.
