THE lucky winner of our competition to see The Music perform at Huddersfield has been chosen.

David Whittingham, of Grange Moor, was drawn as the winner of the competition featured in Fresh last Monday.

Readers were asked to name the second album by the Leeds-based band and David gave us the correct answer, which was Welcome To The North.

The Music will perform at Huddersfield University Student Union on October 14, followed by a gig at Holmfirth Picturedrome on October 18.

The gigs are part of a 14-date UK tour, which follows the release of the band’s comeback album, Strength In Numbers, which came out in June.

The Music formed in Kippax in Leeds in 1999 and caught attention as an unsigned band in 2001. They were signed by Hut and in 2002, released their debut album, followed by 2004’s hit Welcome To The North, which put them firmly on the music map.

They took a two-year break while frontman Robert Harvey battled his alcohol problem. They signed a new deal with Polydor in 2007.
