The much-praised Elland Silver Youth Band is in action this weekend.
Hear this talented youth band play tomorrow (November 16) at Salendine Nook Baptist Church, the latest in the church’s regular series of concerts.
The band will be conducted by its musical director Samantha Harrison who started her playing career on the Eb Horn, at the Elland Silver Band when she was just seven years old.
While doing a business studies degree, Samantha was invited by Phillip McCann to play with the Huddersfield University Brass Band, and was asked to play Principal Cornet in her final year of study.
While at university, Samantha took on the challenge of forming the Elland Silver Youth Band, starting with beginners and teaching them the basics.
