Aussie rockers Airbourne have been raising hell since they exploded onto the scene in 2003.

Now their UK fans only have a short time to wait before they can join the hard rock heroes in some head banging action.

Speaking to Fresh from the apt location of the Hard Rock Cafe in London, guitarist Roadsy said they were stoked to be headlining their own tour across Europe.

He said: “We’ve just come off the Mötley Crüe tour in Canada and we just flew over and we’ve been rehearsing in Nottingham for the last few days.

“We’re about to hit the road for Europe.

“I’m looking forward to the UK and getting back on our own tour.”

Airbourne’s music has been dubbed ‘party rock ‘n’ roll’ thanks to their fondness for chugging down beers and having a good time on stage.

But despite Mötley Crüe’s reputation Roadsy said the joint tour wasn’t the drug-fuelled chaos people might expect.

He said: “The band keep to themselves, we’ve met Nikki Six a couple of times.

“He’s pretty cool, he comes by and has a beer with us and says g’day.

“But it’s not like the dirt days anymore.

“We’ve got our youth about us and we’ve got plenty of party left, but the Crüe, some of those guys are in their 50s and they can’t party like they did when they were younger.”

Airbourne’s pub rock energy has brought the spirit of the early 1980s stadium rock back in focus and comparisons to their compatriots AC/DC were inevitable.

But Roadsy said the band fully accepted the retro tag and were not planning to modernise their sound.

“It’s just where we grew up,” he said.

“We come from a hard hitting country town in Australia and we’ve grown up listening to Aussie pub rock ‘n’ roll and I guess that’s in the vein of both CDs we wrote.

“It’s just that roar, we grew up loving that sound. Joel and I love the sound of the guitars and all the tones of those types of bands and that’s what we’ve grown up learning to play and loving to play.

“We’re sticking with the party rock ‘n’ roll. The only thing that changes is we progress as a band.

“It’s a bigger and better show, a longer set and there’ll be more lights and more amplifiers.”

Airbourne have not yet been announced on any of the UK’s rock festival line-ups but Roadsy hinted that they may well be backing up their idols AC/DC at Donington this June.

He said: “It looks like a really good line-up. Even if we can’t play it I’d like to go there and spectate and watch the bands.

“But hopefully we’ll be on the bill for it.”

Airbourne play Manchester Apollo on April 3 and Leeds Academy on April 7.

Their album ‘No Guts No Glory’ is released on April 20.
